The Canonet 28 didn't feel like it delivered all that and I wanted a faster lens, and the GIII QL17 up on sale is beyond repair, so this will do. First glance it's identical to the 28, second glance, new badge, better focusing ring tab, and a few more rings around the lens - which has a larger glass than the Canonet 28, naturally. Best feature is the shutter priority mode, no more shaky blurred shots, and it takes up to 800 ISO film which is stepped down to 400 ISO to compensate for the stronger battery.

Now where would I get my hands on some ISO 1600 film, preferably of the B&W kind? Only problem is that the rangefinders yellow focusing box is really not as bright as it was with the Canonet 28, sometimes it's actually really difficult. Best off knowing where the focusing ring is before going to work perhaps.
